True Custom Rods That Simply Perform! A great many of the 'custom rods' available locally are only 'custom' insofar as the cosmetics and finishing is concerned. In many respects, purchasing one of these rods is akin to purchasing a new car - you only get to choose the paint colour and perhaps a few post production options. We believe that a true custom rod should be built to perform for the individual angler. Each component should be a unique and pointed incorporation to that particular rod. Consequently, we believe that practices such as uniformly reamed preformed cork grips and dogmatic rod 'recipes' have no place in custom rod building. These are expedient practices that can only detract from the performance of the finished rod. We know that a rod can only be customised for you with your input. Ergonomics and performance preferences are all individual and unique. We spend a great deal of time with our customers discussing and recording these parameters to ensure that the finished rod suits the angler. We emphasise performance above all else. Where necessary, we aggressively modify production components; wherever possible, we make our own. For example, in our opinion, our custom formed all cork triggers and hardwood butt plates far surpass any mass produced equivalent. The thought of fitting a production butt cap is abhorent. To us, performace means much more than just a high modulus blank! We prefer rods without long elaborate buttwraps and heavy epoxy buildups. These merely add weight and slow down the action of the rod. If you just want a pretty work of art, we would respectfully suggest the purchase of a good painting instead. Our specialty is light and ultralight rods for use with 2 - 20 lb. lines. These are the rods that we build and fish most frequently. Cast, spin or fly, we aim to build your ultimate light tackle rod.
